Critical Presentation of the artist Antonio Della Rocca, presented by the Archivio Monografico dell'Arte Italiana di Milano
'The formal richness that these paintings suggest deserves a difficult, deeper examination to be followed in its stratification. The artist Della Rocca Antonio utilizes an artistic language that is aimed at rediscovering lost happiness, preserving a spontaneous adhesion to an intense life, like creativity in continuous development and an evolutionary growth of the spirit.
Della Rocca manifests various languages relating to artistic cultures and establishes with them a fragmentary behaviour, admiring nevertheless a plastic and chromatic beauty, a substantial geometric semplicity and utilizing a linear synthesis in order to reach an essential primordiality of his work. The works of Della Rocca conserve a significant influence with the “Japonesism” for the layout criteria, where the idea of an asymmetrical composition enriched by figures or lines that freely move in the space are animated by a reality in movement. The works of the artist are invaded by an imaginative energy and an extraordinary force of formal synthesis. Just like the art of the “Japonesism”, Della Rocca utilizes a rapid sign to trace the shapes, and with executive clarity he fills the surface with dynamic and decorative signs. He doesn't use the usual recurring motifs in the art, which represent various cult symbols. Della Rocca personalises his art, representing the awareness of the subject, as opposed to its shape. Making reference to Picasso, Della Rocca paints the objects or the figures as he sees them and not as they present themselves in reality.
He experiences art not as a contemplation but as a sign of a time that drains in the complex adherences and problems of an epoch in which art is experienced as action. Della Rocca proposes a reality in continuous metamorphosis, formulating a process of fluid mutation and union between the human gesture, enriched by the most contorted thoughts to break down the apparent daily doldrums, a forgotten nature that has become rigid and barely visible, a depiction that draws its motivation from visual experiences that have truly been experienced, singled out in a meditational, receptive and subconscious zone'

Exhibit in San Marco – Venice, from 19 July to 24 August 2008: ' PosSEXtion – Body and Obsessions', with special guest Tinto Bass, through the SPAZIOEVENTI MONDADORI

< The exhibit PosSEXtion will be set up at the SPAZIOEVENTI MONDADORI in San Marco 1345, Venice, presented by Art&fortE, from 19 July to 24 August 2008: the inaugural ceremony  will be held on Saturday, July 19 at 6.30 p.m. with special guest Tinto Brass, who will present the event. According to the organizers' intentions: PosSEXtion will take the form of an exhibit, starting with an obsessive idea that has been running through our mind for a long time, and from an obsession, which it has become with time, being a strong desire to speak of this uncomfortable subject, matures now in a definitive concept, maintaining its obsessive presence and remaining such.
Here you find, therefore, an exhibit that puts a focus on obsessions, all obsessions that the body and mind create with images that we fear because they are part of our fears, our weaknesses, our addictions, our obsessions. The exhibit aims at being a strong provocation towards artists and towards the public and therefore a strong experience in which one and the other has the possibility to see obsessions, unconfessable fears unmasked, along with all those aspects that the mind and the body elaborate but that culture prefers to deny or prefers that they remain buried. An exhibit about sex, beyond love, beyond passion, within the obsession. Carnality. A sensation that lustfully takes over the senses, projecting itself inevitably on the body and its details. Obsessively, PosSEXtion asks of the artists the difficult task of digging deep into the human psiche in an indiscreet way, without false prudery, without useless taboos, without mediations. Beyond pornography, which is too explicit, seen too much, too exploited and which leaves nothing to the imagination and the mind, the most erotic and perverse part of every one of us.  It is an exhibit that aims at representing pulsations that are often repressed and suffocated, and, precisely for this reason, are probably stronger. At times sensual. At times dangerous. Images, flashbacks of unconfessed or unconfessable desires of that which is experienced and only voluptuously desired. Antonio Della Rocca will participate with one of his works, exclusively of oil, of recent production and selected for the occasion of the aforementioned exhibit (as written by the event's director, Roberto Ronca, who textually wrote, “Dear Antonio, I thank you for your adhesion to PosSEXtion. I would like to send you my sincere compliments for your highest level of artistic prodution, both technically and conceptually.”)
The announcement of the manifestation will be published at www.arteforte.it, on www. Exibart.com, in the monthly publication Venezia News, and on other websites of cultural and artistic promotion. On ArtefortE of YouTube, there are a series of videos about the exhibition that are available: http://it.youtube.com/user/ArtefortE/  (a free registration may be necessary on YouTube)
